An Exhibit of Bulgarian Artists - Hidden Treasures from the Vault

«Previous page

Now through Spring 2008

The Bulgarian Center is currently displaying an assortment of fine art treasures from our permanent collection.

Many of the selected oil paintings, watercolors and limited edition prints were originally donated to the Center by the artists themselves, by Bulgarian dignitaries, and by U.S. diplomats, such as former Ambassador Kenneth Hill, who served in Sofia from 1990 through 1993. Ambassador Hill and his wife Yvonne have made significant contributions to the Bulgarian Center's art and artifact collections. In addition, BMNECC President Patricia Penka French has donated many paintings and drawings from her personal collection to the Center.

The Center has been restoring and re-framing many of the pieces, thanks to a generous grant from the Save America's Treasures program, a public-private partnership between the National Park Service and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is the inclusion of a number of rarely seen lithographs of famous paintings by Bulgarian Master Vladimir Dimitrov, whose original works are displayed in Bulgarian museums.

Visitors can view this exhibit through Spring 2008 during the Center's opening hours:

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays:
10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Saturdays:
9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Special viewings can be arranged by phoning 412-461-6188.
